CNAD’s invitation is the basis for the creation of this dialogue between the work of painter Alex da Silva (1973-2019) and the choreographer and dancer Marlene Monteiro Freitas. The result is the performance/installation “Idiota” [“Idiot”].
In this performance, the character that gives the piece its name sneaks into Pandora’s Box. Love, who knew Idiota’s most intimate wishes, promised glimpses of the Hope he wanted so badly. On the other hand, Solitude, who understood his state of mind, promised the ability to move back.
While Pandora finds Distraction, helped by Love and Solitude, Idiota slides his body inside Pandora’s Box. As a result of his presence, Hope finds Agitation and throws herself against the walls, struggling from one end to the other. It becomes an unbearable scene to the eyes of Idiota. Hope also manages to hipnotise Solitude, which quietly crawls around, taking control of Idiota’s senses. To find his way out, Idiota must overcome several mysterious challenges.
