{"id":743,"date":"2022-07-18T02:08:57","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T01:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cnad.cv\/event\/fios-tapecaria-de-cabo-verde\/"},"modified":"2023-07-21T01:09:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-21T00:09:29","slug":"strings-cabo-verde-tapestry","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/cnad.cv\/en\/event\/strings-cabo-verde-tapestry\/","title":{"rendered":"STRINGS _Cabo Verde\u2019s Tapestry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column el_class=&#8221;single-content-inner-wrapper&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>\u201cThat task is up to each one of us: loving, sharing and encouraging the creators of dreams.\u201d<\/h4>\n<p><small>Lu\u00edsa Queir\u00f3s<\/small>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;70px&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;]\u201cFIOS\u201d [\u201cSTRINGS\u201d] is an exhibition that presents three generations of male and female artists and artisans: the generation that created the Cape Verdean tapestry at CNA and the following two that are exploring it with new approaches.<\/p>\n<p>In 1979, CNA received the first Cape Verdean Tapestry \u201cMercado de Peixe\u201d [\u201cFish Market\u201d], a piece woven from national carded wool and cotton, manually spun at CNA.<\/p>\n<p>While Manuel Figueira Gallery focuses on CNA\/CNAD\u2019s entire history, Lu\u00edsa Queir\u00f3s Gallery, on the other hand, concentrates on tapestry, a technique with strong expression in the islands\u2019 artistic creation. These exhibitions are all cut from the same cloth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFIOS \u2013 Tape\u00e7aria de Cabo Verde\u201d [\u201cSTRINGS \u2013 Cabo Verde\u2019s Tapestry\u201d] contemplates artworks produced between the late 1970s and 1980s, as well as the results of two creative residencies: \u201cURDIDURAS \u2013 Tecendo Olhares.2\u201d (2016), including pieces from CNA&#8217;s second generation: masters Jo\u00e3o Fortes, Joana Pinto, and Marcelino dos Santos, and \u201cTEADA\u201d (2018), by Alex da Silva and Bento Oliveira (third generation); and Manuel Figueira (first generation) with the masters mentioned above, as well as artisans Helder Medina, Helder Santos and Valdemiro Pina.
